Our club teaches ordinary people of all ages and abilities, how to use martial arts in a practical sense and relate it to every day life. We also help them understand the eastern philosophy at the root of karate practice.
I urge you not to be put off by ill informed perceptions. We are NOT a combat sport and we are NOT about creating super athletes.
Inquire about our classes, now. We value you and want to help.
Are you for the "crash-bash?" Or, do you like the idea of fighting, or winning competitions? If the answer to either of the above is "YES", then please move onto another website. This one is NOT for you.
If "No", then this club could interest you. We understand if you have a hankering for a blend of keep fit, self-defence, and the ancient 'Zen' eastern wisdom. Not just karate moves!
Once you reach a certain level of understanding, you realise karate, as practised in our club, is all about stopping the fight before it begins.
You will be learning the art of what a Chinese General, Sun Tsu in 500BC phrased, "the art of war is to render your opponent incapable before you have to fight him."
The secret is based around understanding "Yin" energy, and explosive "Yang" elements, at the appropriate moment.
Classical karate moves are like an encyclopaedia of how Yin and Yang interact and work in harmony together.
Competition martial arts are, by their very nature, generally "Yin deficient" affairs, spectator events made to please the viewing public, and the ego.
If you are part of the 'silent majority',you may already recognise the need for 'Yin' and 'Yang' in your heart of hearts - and want to find out more.
In eastern philosophy the 'hara,' or 'dantian,' is at the very core and centre of our body and mind. In the west, when we listen to our 'gut feeling', we begin to connect with some of those deep and profound instincts.
If you want to experience life from the centre of your being, and develop inner peace and harmony, then you can. One rewarding and profound way to this enlightenment is through the study and practice of orthodox martial arts. For me, the key can be found in karate.
It will help you discover yourself.
